Services, Fees & Insurance
Progressive Health Services accepts full payment at the time services are rendered. We accept VISA, MasterCard and cash. We do not accept checks.
Our acupuncture services are covered by American Specialty Health Insurance as well as some other health insurance plans. While we do not bill insurance for other services, we can provide you with a super bill insurance receipt that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Submiting your own insurance billing helps us to keep our costs down and enables us to provide services at affordable rates. If you choose to submit your own insurance billing we cannot guarantee that your insurance company will reimburse you for our services. However, many of our clients have told us that they have recieved some percentage of reimbursement from their insurance compainies for many of our services.
All services include an office visit or consultation fee to cover our costs to provide health services. Our costs include rent, phones, utilities, supplies, lnsurance fees, licensing fees, web site maintainance, practitioner and staff pay, and many other expenses necessary to running a health care facility. Lab tests are an additional fee added on to the office visit fee.
We have a sliding scale of fees (see chart) for some of our services enabling those in financial need to pay a slightly lower fee. As a nonprofit, of course, it helps us when you are able to pay the top of our Fee Scale. Every little bit helps us as a nonprofit to provide much needed services.
Office visit/consultation fees are based on an hourly rate of $160-$240 sliding scale. This is broken down into 15-minute increments. A ½ hour consultation is $80-120. A 15 minute consultation is $40-$60. Certain services, such as an annual exam, require a minimum amount of time to provide competent care.
All lab tests, herbs, nutritional supplements, literature and health care supplies are an additional fee added on to the office visit fee.
We place an emphasis on health education, information sharing, self-examination and self-help. We are constantly getting feedback from our clients that our services are well worth the cost because of the quality of care we provide as well as the time we spend with each client.
Note: Low/no income Lesbians, Bisexual women and Transgender people, who live in San Diego, may qualify for financial assistance for health services through the Tony Atkins Lesbian Health Fund. For more information please call us at 619-260-0810.
The Donor Insemination Program includes in depth training in highly accurate methods of ovulation detection, cervical self-exam, cycle charting and self-insemination, a plastic vaginal speculum, cycle charts, the book A New View of a Woman’s Body, self-insemination equipment, required complete physical exam and lab work, and sperm bank access.
